Hi

I’m Kristal Miller and I love diving into the deep end (literally and figuratively)

so, let’s get into it!

Shortly after earning my degree in Interior Design, I began working for a premier commercial furniture dealership where I had the opportunity to wear many hats that touched all parts of the commercial furniture business including Project Management and Executive Assistant to the CEO. All of which was an invaluable experience.

After a handful of years working in the corporate world, the opportunity arose to change directions and work first hand with residential design clients. That move has been one of the most rewarding decisions I’ve ever made.

Shifting to the residential design field allowed me to realize where my strengths shine the brightest.

Now, with the Interior Chronicles, all paths converge and I am bringing forth the knowledge from all my past trainings beyond the design realm including:

  • Yoga.Psyche.Soul 300hr Yoga Teacher Certification lead by Ashley Turner

  • Trauma Sensitive and Trauma Informed Yogic Trainings lead by Hala Khouri

  • Certified Holistic Home Feng Shui Practitioner

As founder and principal designer of The Interior Chronicles, I am completely vested in every. single. project.

I truly enjoy working in partnership with you, the client, in transforming interior spaces into soul nourishing sanctuaries.

4 little known facts about me:

  • I secretly wish that I could be a professional karaoke singer

  • I sometimes crochet dinosaurs, mushrooms and robots

  • I love onion rings but only eat the breading and not the onions

  • My favorite holiday is a tie between Halloween and Thanksgiving

Wanna know more?

Here’s the longer story

While my path to design wasn't a straight one, there’s a strong through line from the very beginning.

I’ve always had a fascination (borderline obsession?!) with self expression, self exploration, personal development, personal growth and internal reflection all of which began at an early age.

At the age of 4, I was taking  gymnastics, ballet and tap classes. By the age of 6, I had enough sketches to start the makings of a clothing line and by the age of 8, I had memorized every song in Mary Poppins, The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, and Aladdin and could recite them on cue.

Here I am at age 9, showing off my personal identity through fashion while touring my cities’ local art museum

To state the obvious, I thrived on self expression…and still do!

By the age of 11, any chance I could get I would watch the early years of HGTV with Christopher Lowell. (Anyone else remember that?)

During the show I would take notes and would later attempt to mimic his suggestions.

With the budget of a middle schooler (and no one’s approval) I would collect things from around the house to implement in my new design plans, such as using our embroidered heirloom tablecloth as a cover for a side table to achieve as Christopher Lowell said an “instant refresh”.

Or, I would try my hand at “ balancing the living room's aesthetic” by moving a lamp from one corner of the room to another. “small changes can make all the difference!”

As I got older and was strong enough to move my enormous six foot solid wood dresser on my own, there was no stopping me! Thus began my quarterly scheduled bedroom furniture rearranging. A habit that lasted through four moves and my late twenties

Growing right alongside my desire for self expression was an interest in personal growth and internal reflection. By age 14, I was studying astrology (if only in the weekly newspaper, back pages of Cosmo and the early days of the internet) and quickly discovering my sun is in Virgo, I learned that Virgos appreciate a sense of order which of course came as NO surprise to me.

Soon after my initial dive into astrology I discovered MBTI and decided to take the test and type myself at 16. (what I didn’t know at the times was that I was too young to get an accurate result and I think I ended up being typed as ENFJ at the time!)

I now identify as an INTP

and for the record I’m also a Virgo Sun & Rising, Aquarius Moon and Enneagram 5w4

So by now in this story you probably won’t be surprised to know that for a brief time I considered studying psychology in college, but…it turned out, I didn’t love it enough to want to write the required papers. ha!

Ultimately I spent my freshman year toiling over a multitude of majors but nothing sat right with me. So I put college on hold for a few years and made a good living bartending and became a corporate trainer.

When the time came and I heard the calling to return to the classroom I remembered back to that little girl with a fascination for design and decided to lean into my yearnings and earn my degree in Interior Design. And I was fortunate enough to land my first job out of school at a prestigious commercial furniture dealership.

After trying my hand in the corporate world, I knew I wanted more creativity, freedom and the ability to work directly with people and make an impact in their everyday lives

And that desire for more freedom and helping others led me down the “side hustle” path to becoming a yoga instructor and leading classes at a local outpatient mental health and substance abuse recovery center.

Because I’m always seeking a deeper understanding and learning, I have continued my yoga education with many hours of training and studied under a multitude of teachers, most recently receiving a 300hr certification through Yoga.Psyche.Soul focusing on the point where psychology and yoga converge.

So how does all of that bring us to today?

With corporate life experiences as a Project Manager as well as working as an Executive Assistant to the CEO I felt it was time to jump into the small business residential design field which where I have spent the last five years working for a local boutique luxury design firm.

Now, after working with all types of people from all walks of life,

everyone from school teachers, to small business owners

Executives of fortune 100 companies to retirees with 2nd and 3rd homes.

one thing always rings true:

AT HOME, EVERYONE WANTS TO FEEL COMFORTABLE TO BE WHO THEY TRULY ARE.

TO BE THE PERSON WHO THEY MAY BE ABLE TO SHOW TO ALL OF SOCIETY.

FOR HOME TO BE A SANCTUARY FROM THE OUTSIDE WORLD.

AND SO WITH MY DEGREE, TRAININGS AND EXPERIENCE, I’M EXCITED TO BE ABLE TO PULL ALL THE PIECES TOGETHER AND OFFER ALL OF THAT TO YOU TO MAKE YOUR HOME UNIQUELY YOU.

I look forward to chatting with you and sharing how this personal discovery design process can transform your home.
